ELSSS - Electronic Society for Social Scientists

The Review of Economic Theory, to be launched shortly, aims to be a first-rate theory journal, with standards comparable to those currently used at the Journal of Economic Theory.

The Board of Editors of The Review of Economic Theory comprises:

    (University of Toronto)

    (Boston University)
    (University of Bonn)
(two more editors are being appointed)
Martin, Bart and Georg will bring to RET a wealth of editorial and refereeing experience.

The Advisory Board of The Review of Economic Theory comprises:
    (Princeton)
    (Harvard University)
    (UCLA)
    (University of Pennsylvania)

The Review of Economic Theory (RET) differs from a traditional field journal in two main respects.
  1. It is committed to operate on a non-commercial basis. (It will be published by ELSSS, a not-for-profit Learned Society with Charitable Status under Scottish Law.)
RET will be available at no cost to all University Libraries and non-profit research centres in developing and transition countries. Only institutions based in will be required to purchase subscriptions, which will be priced at the minimum break-even level (currently US$350 for a campus-wide subscription).
  2. Its primary medium of publication will be electronic, though it will be available also in hard copy. In particular, it will publish issues quarterly, and will process submitted papers traditionally, using referees to evaluate them.
Our goal is to provide the quickest possible turnaround time consistent with careful review. To help us achieve this goal, we will pay a US$150 honorarium to referees who return reports within five weeks. Our manuscript management package is designed to speed up all aspects of peer review. RET will publish regularly detailed statistics on the length of time it takes us to process papers.
Details about how to submit to The Review of Economic Theory, etc. will be posted soon.
